We are a multi-generational family business.  Rod founded Creative Landscapes 40 years ago.  Oakley and Shad grew up doing the work right along his side.  We have spent years together working on our craft and design eye.

Rod Payne-Meyer, M.A., has been creating beautiful landscapes in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts since 1974. With a BS undergraduate degree from UVM in Plant and Soil Science, and a Master of Arts in Landscape Design from the Conway School of Landscape Design, Rod began Creative Landscapes in 1983.

With his many years of experience, Rod has developed a distinctive vision for landscape design work. He pays close attention to lines, shapes, proportions, and configurations. Within his landscapes one experiences the color, fragrance, and feel of the plants. He works with the energies and assets already existing in the nature of a place. Rod’s designs emphasize the interplay between plants and stone, water and wood.

Oakley has been in the family business since he could lift tools and rocks.  He has skills in every area of landscape construction.

Oakley’s care and precision set his craftsmanship ahead of all other competitors.  Whether it is working with stone or plants, Oakley is right at home blending hard-working construction experience with a detail-oriented eye for design.
